We really do have one of the most beautiful parts of the country right on our doorstep and so we take different routes through the hills, valleys, rivers and woodlands each day.
We explore parts of the area that would be difficult to get to on foot, giving you the opportunity to experience the views, wildlife and tranquillity that the Elan Valley has to offer on horseback. We take out all levels of riding ability from novice to advanced riders.

All our horses are homebred, backed and schooled by us. Our herd ranges from a wide variety of horses in every size, shape and colour so we can always find a horse or pony that suits you.
The majority of our horses are Gypsy cobs who are known for their loving, kind and patient nature. We have a team of qualified, knowledgeable guides who are always willing and happy to help with any questions or problems you may have.
We are now on the 60th year in business and we have been approved and recommended by the BHS since 1972. The business was established in 1966 by the late Elwyn Collard and is now run by his Granddaughter, Alice Collard who shares the same love for horses that he once did.
We run on a seasonal basis, our season starts in May and ends in mid-September. However, the exact start and finishing dates do depend on the weather and ground conditions.
Our weight limit is 14 stone and our age limit is 6 years old.

The Half Day trek is our most popular ride for all ages and abilities. Designed for beginners to seasoned riders, this trek gives you the opportunity to experience the views and tranquillity that the Elan Valley has to offer.
We take different routes each day, riding through the rivers, woods and over the hills experiencing a variety of different terrain along the way, allowing you to enjoy a mix of gentle trails and slightly more adventurous routes, perfectly tailored to your skill level.
If you are new to riding, our 2 Hour Trek is a little step up from the 1 Hour Trek, offering more time to explore the stunning landscapes of Mid Wales while building your confidence in the saddle. Still suitable for beginner riders, this trek is ideal for those feeling a little more adventurous and ready to take on a slightly longer journey.
For experienced riders, our Half Day Trek is a superb choice for those seeking a bit more excitement, the pace can be adjusted to include opportunities for trot or canter where suitable. Our sure-footed, homebred horses an experienced guides ensure a smooth and enjoyable ride through varied terrain, allowing you to fully appreciate the breath-taking landscapes. This is an ideal choice for those who want to explore the countryside while indulging their passion for riding in a serene and scenic setting.
When booking a Half Day Trek with us you will be booked into a group with similar riding abilities to ensure that you can enjoy your Trek at a pace that you wish, our friendly guides will tailor the experience to your comfort level.

Our 1 Hour Trek is perfect for those with no prior experience and is a very gentle introduction to the world of horse riding. Set amidst the stunning landscapes of the Elan Valley, you’ll enjoy a relaxing ride along scenic country lanes under the guidance of our friendly and experienced staff. Our calm and gentle horses make it easy to feel at ease as you take in the breath-taking views. Whether you’re looking for a unique outdoor activity or simply want to try something new, this trek is the perfect way to start your riding journey. No special skills or equipment required—just bring your sense of adventure!

Introduce your child to the joy of horse riding with our half an hour Pony Pobble. Our Pony Pobble is perfect for younger children wanting to ride a pony for the first time, building confidence & gaining more experience.
This session includes a hat & boot fitting, safety briefing, a quiet amble down the country lane, an opportunity to brush the ponies and to learn some basic knowledge.
What will you need to bring?
We provide approved riding hats at our Centre. If you wish to bring your own hat, it will be checked on arrival to see whether or not it is up to the current standard. If it isn’t you will be unable to ride in it.
You need to wear full-length clothing (no shorts, skirts or dresses) and be equipped for changes in the weather.
We provide riding boots if you do not have a sturdy boot with a small heel.

Booking Policy
To confirm your booking, we do require a non-refundable deposit for each rider.
1 Hour - £30 deposit required per person
Half Day - £30 deposit required per person.
Private Half Day Trek - £60 deposit required per person.
½ Hour Pony Pobble - £15 deposit required per person
You will not be booked into the diary until the deposit is paid.
This deposit is non-refundable if you wish to cancel.
If you cancel your booking within the 48 hours before your Pony Trek you are required to pay the full price.
You are also required to pay the full price of your original booking if you’re more than 15 minutes late.
Sadly, we can’t predict what the Welsh Weather will throw at us and our customers safety is our priority at all times.
In the case of bad weather, your deposit is transferable so you can book in for another day but it is not refundable.
Safety Briefing
Do not enter into the yard with the horses unless supervised.
Please always be calm and quiet when around the horses. Shouting and loud behaviour is not tolerated.
Please do not run around the yard or near the horses.
Please do not stand behind the horses at any time.
Please do not feed the horses without permission.
Respect must be shown to the horses at all times.
Smoking is not permitted.
No dogs are allowed into the yard with the horses, any dogs in the car park must be attended at all times and kept on lead.
Suitable footwear must be worn on the yard.
If you’re feeling uneasy while on the Trek please either let one of your guides know or raise your hand.
